"Pain makes man think. Thought makes man wise. Wisdom makes life enjoyable." Marlon Brando’s Character “Sekine-san” from the movie: “Tea House of the August Moon.”

I like to say that when it comes to my talents, I’m a writer first, a photographer second and a hack wannabe at both. It all started when I answered an ad looking for stringers for a new publication. I answered and to my surprise was accepted. From that point on, there was no looking back. In the two years since the publication started up, I’ve been a regular contributor with over a hundred articles in print to date.

What makes this so fun for me is that I really enjoy getting around the island to observe and document the rich history and culture of the “Goya Republic” aka Okinawa, Japan. I also like informing people about the many out of the way places they never heard of. It started out as a passing interest, turned into a hobby and eventually evolved into a full blown passion. I find that I can hardly wait to get up in the morning and get on the computer to start writing something.

When the photography aspect is included, you have a double barreled effect. Now instead of just writing a story, I look for photographs that enhance the story. Sometimes I’m even lucky enough to take a photograph that inspires a story. The two go hand-in-hand in my work and I often find that photography and writing synergize each other. That’s why I publish two blogs. One is focused on writing and the other photography.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have been regularly featured in the Stripes Okinawa, a weekly supplement for the regular Stars and Stripes newspaper. I’m also a regular contributor “Feature writer” for “The Okinawan,” a quarterly tourism promotional magazine that is written in four languages. I also regularly post photographs and feature length articles on the “JPG Magazine” and “Everywhere Magazine” websites. Last but not least, there are my two blogs, “Expatriate Games” and “Goya Republic.” To add insult to injury, I also publish my own monthly newsletter too. You can sign up for the latter for free as well as check my other work by going to the links page on my “GoyaRepublic.com” website and clicking on the links provided.

Though I’m enjoying some very good success in my endeavors, I’m always on the lookout for new venues for my work. I offer advertizing to local businesses on my sites and blogs but I’ve also been told on numerous occasions that when someone read something I wrote and posted on my blog, they wanted to check the place out for themselves. So I started thinking to myself, why not offer this service to my many readers on a regular basis. More importantly, why not offer my services to the business community.

To that end, I’m now offering my services to any Okinawa based business that is trying to reach out to English speaking customers. Let me help you reach potential customers by informing my readers about your business. This offer is a cost effective alternative to conventional advertising and offered at insanely low rates. It’s ideal for restaurants, hotels and major tourist attractions trying to bolster their customer base in this less than ideal business climate. For more information just (Click Here).
